I am thinking considering the new Intel, actually old, exploits there would be reason enough to use libreboot more than ever.

Oh yes! Looks amazing sans Windows and I am actually more fond of the non-colored version of the Thinkpad logo.
I was following news about the retro Thinkpad for some time now.

It looks really really good but oh boy, it is of course shiny and *expensive*.

But at least many of us here have already the real thing. :) And I would still probably buy a refurbished one again in the future before I purchase something that expensive. I only know that I won't buy one of those with the chiclet keyboard, no way. Even my other old hardware has a better keyboard then what is offered right now on the market.

Edit: Nope. Won't get it. Just saw it will only come with Windows. For that price, nope.

Well that's freaking expensive for a repurposed *470 series and for a cheapskate like me. Of course I will still looking to buy one (or rather find one) next year, if i'm lucky enough.

^ bit worried about this 'finding' euphemism you keep using... :P

Yeah I won't be getting one, I thought my X1 was quite late on, but it's like the mk1 or something.
I liked the video 'the way of the thinkpad' small enough for me to actually watch - I had never seen that crazy slide outwards keyboard before!

^ 'locating' - 'getting cheap off ebay' ? 'checkin the broken machine bin at work' ? :)

It's more like "leftover stuff originally intended for the purpose of state-run organizations, given to me at half the cost because they just put those items somewhere, collecting dust?" though i think i can agree with "locating". :D

Just configured and ordered a refurbished T420 for a good friend of mine with 8 GB of RAM and a 240 GB SSD. I am envious. :) It comes with an i5 second generation and we took the best screen possible and everything for about 330 Euros. Without all that fancy stuff it would only cost 199 Euros.
Though for him I ordered it with Windows 7. Now he can play with Linux on his old Toshiba before putting it on the T420.

^ doing pretty fucking awesome at the moment :)

^^ wife broke the screen on her chrome book and went back to the toshiba dual core. Did everything she needed and still felt more snappy than the chromebook. (except it weighs a ton and battery isn't amazing) great for a desk/laptop I fixed the chrome book for 30 quid though :) easy peasy

Forgot to mention earlier today that I finally got around to get me one of these. Refurbished and not new, it was fucking expensive anyway. But it comes with a one year guarantee on the hardware, at the least.

A gift to myself really, for landing a steady job. Even if it have to run a family friendly OS, and not some weird dark minimlistic Linux shit, (as "some" describe it) I still LOVE it! The downside though, is that all my old Ts kind of sucks now. :D

^^ Nice one man!
which revision? My Mk1 is still the best computer I've ever had, even though the battery is a bit old, I stil get 2 or so hours out of it, plenty for my use case.
