I started drinking only loose leaf teas with as you guys are calling it" off-boiling" water at a pretty young age. By middle school had my own entire tea cabinet in the kitchen with everything from a small kettle, pots, mesh spoons, balls etc. and it's always been most everything loose and no herbals/no-fruit stuff.

Pu-er-tu-cha
Assam
Sencha
Macha
Oolong
Big jasmine balls
Earl grey
Occasionally rooibos( not a technical tea leaf)
Darjeeling I love
But mostly favorites are assam, sencha, oolong, hand rolled stuff.

I'm forgetting 20+ teas I've not had in years. I know I forgot Ceylon which is excellent.

Never milk.
Never sugar.

Thanks for the recipe, John.

And that's an impressive list there, Sir prodigy :)

And right now all I've got are some green tea bags (Prince of Peace) and Stash English Breakfast tea. Haven't had any good loose leaf in a while. My favorite local tea shop went out of business some time ago. :(

That's sad. Starbucks won't get shut down, only the nice little shops where people _love_ doing what they do.

Diddy, could the increasing tea consumption be associated to pipe smoking? What are you saying Jules? In my case that is it. At least one cup of tea with my Lat bombs.

Yup, I always need a cup of hot fluid when I smoke a bowlful (and every drink changes the overall mouth-feel of the tobacco), and especially black teas fit these natural tobaccos best.

Actually I usually just drink coffee in the morning with my first pipe or two. Was supposed to receive some Kendal Kentucky and Kendal Dark tobacco today and was planning on English Breakfast tea with them, but it's still not here. I don't know what the deal with the mail is here this week. have to check the tracking again. I bet a nice Assam or Ceylon is great with a lat bomb. Might try that with Penzance.

In theory they fit like Adam and Eve, both are flavored with bergamot.

Well, Just tried out some 'yerba' tea, not sure what it is - makes a nice cup, brewed it lazy style - leaves in the mug/bucket + boiling water, wait till the bits sink.
Quite nice, like green tea, but a lot more herb taste.
I left the leaves in too long, so at the end it seemed to swell my throat up a bit.

Also trying Mao Jian - jade tips (which seems like an innuendo after reading the 'tao of sex' (the translation I read talks about jade gates, jade stalks and stuff)
just on my second cup of this 'high mountain plantation' tea, very nice. Does make a wonderful golden green colour and slips down a treat, not so much 'green' in this green tea obviously.

Today I bought some rather cheapish Ceylon tea just for the kicks to accompany my bowls and to fill my thermos for the long walks in the sun. :)

Went to a tea shop and tried some of this, had to buy a packet:
Mate IQ is a really nice brew, and full of natural stimulants guarana and stuff, really quite addictive. The orange really makes it taste nice.
and economic 8) - I usually get a couple of brews out of one teaspoon.

^ Once you see what colour the Mate goes, when it's nicely brewed.
It's the exactly the colour of the MATE DE. 8)

Popped a tin of Anhui Qimen (Keemun) Red Tea today, quite dark first infusion, much more 'lemony' than other black teas, an acceptable bitterness that changes to smokiness after a few seconds. Seems to go very well with something to smoke. ;)

This is a very distinguished forum here apparently. That's great; I'm also a daily tea drinker.

Right know due to Taifun season and >30degC days here in Japan I am refraining from brewing fresh tea, but otherwise I cherisch mostly types of Green Tea (the stronger ones, for the Caffeine), interleaved with cups of black teas (Earl Grey with freshly-cut lemon or Darjeeling with clove).

Over the summer, I drink cold green as well as black tea (even from bottles, which I know is a sin).

Glad you like out litte corner :)

I think here in Asia it is absolutely okay to drink the bottled tea ;) A sin, yes -- but the best soft drink against thirst :)

if your mouth is dry as fuck, drink ice tea, for sure. that and ice cold water. no sin, imo, just smart :)
