Siduction 'December'
In case you haven't noticed: http://news.siduction.org/2013/12/relea ... h-systemd/
In short:
- new flavour called 'Xorg' comes with fluxbox on top of a clean X.
- switched to systemd except of the XFCE flavour
- razorqt and LXDE slightly ahead of Debian's versions
- vacant positions in the art team
Congratulations, siduction! I'm not quite sure what motivated them to release the noX version, the mini-X version and the switch to systemd ;)

Hmm, I wonder. Art team? Is that walls and configs? Does that mean we're artsy here at the grill?machinebacon wrote: Congratulations, siduction! I'm not quite sure what motivated them to release the noX version, the mini-X version and the switch to systemd ;)

Re: Siduction 'December'
I installed the KDE spin, Wednesday evening. The install ran flawlessly in less than about 10 minutes.
I was trying KDE just because I hadn't looked at it in about 10 years. God almighty, the bloat. The fresh system, freshly rebooted, uses over 800 MB of RAM. I will not be keeping this one.

Re: Siduction 'December'
@Tim, I'd try the "Xorg" version that only comes with fluxbox or the XFCE version (with sysvinit). Just like you, I tried the KDE versions of aptosid and siduction every now and then and never bothered to keep them. They had a KDE-lite version anno dazumal, with KDE 3.5, that was super-neat. Good old days :(

Re: Siduction 'December'
If I reinstall my main system, I will probably stay with LXDE. I have grown very comfortable with it. But I still like to look around, sometimes.

Compared to siduction, we're super-artsy. I had a look at the razorqt version but it looks like my son made it. And he's 6 years old. Apart from the bloat it seems well made though.

Yeah well, aptosid and siduction never really came with great artwork or a nice theme (quite vanilla). Seems to be the German touch :D

yeah, bloody Germans. 8)
Err, except Bauhaus, still *the* definition of form *and* function. Still that was sometime ago.
oh and personally, Volkswagen design failed around the end of the Mk2 Golf/Jetta 8)
while i'm on it, I consider the French art-deco/nouveau the greatest graphic designer period of the century, now unfortunately most posters/company logos look like they have been made with MS word. if it's got a rainbow fill - it's considered classy. This is slowly changing a bit, recently.

Now i'm not "proud" being german or anything- but german design sometimes is drop-dead gorgeous. Seen this ? http://gizmodo.com/343641/1960s-braun-p ... les-future
