Re: Linux News
Ubuntu maybe will have its own file manager, from a Spanish article a quote from an Ubuntu developer in English:
hi, with the planned switch to unity8 in 14.10 it is most likely that we will also start using the converged QML apps that are developed today. With all the complaints and unhappyness about Nautilus upstream ripping out things like dual pane and other beloved and helpful features I expect we can do better and I think this is the right time to:
collect requirements
file whishlist bugs
if *you* want to contribute, get in contact with the developers (CCed) the new core apps are all 100% developed by the community under guidance of the canonical design team. the code for the filemanager can be found at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu-filemanager-app it is running on phone and tablets already and has a proper convergence mode adapting to bigger screens.

Re: Linux News
They didn't want to listen to Ikey at GNOME, now GNOME can put its Nautilus where it belongs to: into the depths. How I hate Nautilus. Always did.
Thanks for the article, DD

Re: Linux News
^I do use Expose quite a bit in Mac OSX, so that's a pretty cool piece of software. Thanks!
Re: Linux News
If you build it from git, then it fixes the bug of not showing the title bars.

Re: Linux News
Skippy-X is included in one of the BBQ releases (forgot which one -- must be Absinthe), I am just missing the 'smoothness' of Expose, but it does the job perfectly well.

Re: Linux News
I ran across it after a few failed attempts to add Gala to Debian.

Re: Linux News
Gala ... let me see, did you try it on Sid?
Edit: Okay, checked the chain of dependencies and will try to build it on one of my butchered ex-#!-sid partitions, but it smells like a huge mess :)

Re: Linux News
Compton could be used with some fade effects for smoother feeling with skippy... Never tried it though, cause Openbox middle click is pretty much my expose (that sounds so bad for some reason).

Re: Linux News
I tried Gala on testing.
I borked a few vms. but that could be due to 3d support in vmplayer.
I didn't have the nerve to try on a "real" system.

Re: Linux News
Ugh, every time a Linux distro tries to mimic Mac OSX, a penguin dies. Oh, and it looks like shit.
