I will probably end up just sounding like another echo, but I do give a most heartfelt congrats, Zac :D I can only imagine the anticipation, as I just about kill myself with stress when I know that I have to go to any sort of small social gathering, much less a big one!

He has gone crazy :Delixir wrote:Hello grillers, I have some exciting news to share with you all. I, elixir (In case you do not know my name is Zac :D), am getting married this February 7th to the girl of my dreams. Yes I know, I know, I am young and I have a whole life of changing and decisions ahead of me, but I cannot wait for this. I at least wanted to let all of my good friends on the BBQ to know before it actually happened :)
Nah, congratulations my man, wish you two can stay longer together than most of us at the grill (opt me out, I'm put on hold) ;)

Thank you all for the best wishes and blessings. You are all truly great people! I am not going anywhere, but I at least wanted to say thank you to each of you. Without any of you, I would still be stuck in a computing world full of bloat and being told what to do. You have all not only helped me in computing, but in life as well. Best wishes to all of you as well, and once again, thank you all! :)

you realise the first obligation of any bbq'er getting married is getting his wife on the forums, right? right? ;P

Re: /dev/null
me and my GF have discussed marriage already, but i suspect that she, having never been married before, still retains that "special" feeling surrounding it. since I have been married and divorced, i know it is a bunch of bullshit (sorry Elixir, i hope you two are happy and all, but what i mean is that to me marriage adds absolutely nothing to an already established relationship). our prime reason for marriage would be because it provides us with certain benefits when seeking employment - for example, a employing school will pay for housing for you and your husband, but not you and your boyfriend. also, we could work in the Middle East, where there are shitloads of money to be made. this is currently impossible as it is illegal for unmarried couples to live in the same house. however, having already married for financial reason (at no cost), i dont want to do it for those reasons again and then pay EUR 650 when things go wrong. fuck that shit. IF i am going to marry again it will be because it is a conscious decision of love. otherwise, i wont. and even if it is for love, i will still consider it a bunch of bullshit - but an excuse for a party anyhow ;)

Re: /dev/null
sorry to spoil the party but after 39 years I can say: the best decision I have ever made was *not* to get married with any of my previous girlfriends. And yeah, it had been discussed and thought about. I would definitely be a divorced man now.
But yeah, happy happy elixir and soon-to-be-wife, just ignore the grumpy people on board :D

Married .. been there, done that. I got out of it alive.
Zac - grats on your soon-to-be-ex-wife .. I kid, I kid :)

Re: /dev/null
I can agree with you all, marriage isn't for everyone. Here people marry mindlessly, and don't divorce but successfully turn their and other people's life into hell but I guess it has its moments ? Necessary distraction I suppose ;)
