Few days with random thoughts about writing something longish.

Brings LaTeX out of the bag.

Cracks knuckles.

Fuck Italy and fuck Italians too. I'll regret the day I came back to the sorry-ass country for the rest of my life.

I know it is to no comfort, but it is going the wrong way everywhere. Some places are better off than Italy though, but it is going the wrong way in the end there too. It is so depressing that I sometimes think that it is better live in blissful ignorance.

^Neither can I. But I have improved myself a little, the things that I can not do anything about, I do not let them frustrate me that much anymore. In my youth, for a long period of time, several years really, I followed news and stuff that happened very closely. It all ended with a me being depressed, I had to shut down media for a very very long time. Now I prioritize much more. And it has become easier to live with all fucked up shit that is going on. Or maybe it is just me with age that has developed more apathy over the injustices in the world. :)

Discogs is the Devil. Oh, but it feels so good.

^ Damn, you plagued too, huh!?

I may not buy music as I used too, and I only go with vinyl these days, but there is literally anything on there. I found the first record of a DIY band last night that has been unavailable (450 copies printed) for years. For 18€, shipping costs included. Come on!

I already sold many of my old CDs (stuff I really couldn't care less about now), might do another pass to get more money for the vinyls.

Pretty much. I only say one word, *vinyl*. That is the plague in this house.
I use Discogs every day!

^ Oh yes, vinyls are my babies too nowadays.

Which is funny because with Plex media server running and the TV linked to it, I can pretty much pick whatever I want from my digital collection. I don't know, I still feel like collecting records, especially if they come from obscure bands.

Nowadays before even starting a computer to stream some music or search the immense digital catalogue, after I come home from work I just put a record to spin, sit down and enjoy like it used to be when I was younger. Probably I am getting old too. It has something relaxing not to fiddle around with the computer.
In fact I try to use it less for enjoying content and use Blu rays, CDs and vinyls. No Bluetooth, no streaming, no internet connection, no fucking smart whatever the thing is.

If I change to my laptop I can access all that digital stuff in an instant. Call it disconnect to reconnect.
'Worst case scenario' is all that stuff I listen to on the notebook or digital I later try to look up on Discogs to buy the fucking expensive LPs and ruin my wallet. But life is short. But I only do it with stuff I really love and really want instead of having everything.

^ I knew it, you junkie! :)

Honestly I treasure fondly the days back in my hometown where I had to take 2 buses or, when I finally got a car, drive for 35-40 minutes to get to the only decent record store (Kandiski was its name, a fancy word play). Fugazi, ISIS, Neurosis, Quicksand, Red Sparrows, Pelican, Today is the Day, Husker Du... so many great records discovered there. Manly CDs back then, the vinyls came later and when I actually got my first two vinyls I didn't have a proper turntable to put them on.

My dull 56kbps connection didn't get me very far in terms of downloads, so I had to spent money on records if I wanted music, because friends were on totally different sounds and I was already set to be your usual contrarian.

I had a kind of "blast from the past" moment when I was living in London, because record stores where so easy to reach there. It helped having the girl of my life working for the now defunct huge HMV store in Oxford Street (the big one I mean, the little one should still be there on the other side of the street, IIRC).

You're bringing back memories with this, people.

Embarrasingly I did not know what Discogs was. I have fallen out totally of my collecting music mania, so that is why... Checked it out...and ran away...FAST! The music hording Satan that lives inside of me started salivating at the mere sight of Discogs, so I decided to get out of there and never to return. :|

LBA finals start tonight, game 1: Venezia VS Sassari.

I know I am the only one (on Earth) watching Italian basketball, but hey, I am excited and I got the beer. What more do I need!?

^ Great game, although after game 5 of Raptors VS Warriors I once again understood where the real basketball is happening. Damn.
