And LKW gets abused in the South of Germany as abbreviation for Leberkaesweckle :D This:

@gurtid: nice, in which band do you play? ;) Yeah, I will take care of our kids, don't worry.

@david: damn, I really miss this kind of snack here. You know, stuff that is surrounded by Weckla, like hot dogs, Bratwurst, LKW. Every time when I get back to Germany, I dive into (no, not Python!) Currywurst, Schweinehals im Weckle, stuff like this. No problem with Asian cuisine, but it lacks the 'Herzhaftigkeit' :D

Damn Bacon. I will make me a snack, something herzhaft, good for the heart.
Every cuisine has its specialties.

Hahaha good for the heart :D

While Germany's 'herzhafte Kueche' is everything else than good for the cardio-vascular system :D

Well "Operating Systems" subject kicked off in college a few weeks ago... And what's interesting is that the teacher rocks an almost neckmoustache (sometimes it looks like it's alive, that moustache) and a ThinkPad (probably W series), with.. Wheezy! He runs Gnome with a million extensions installed to make it more like Gnome 2.

The other side of the coin though is that it's the ugliest fucking Gnome deskop I have ever seen. It's actually not completely default, because he changed some fonts and the default titlebar to something much uglier included with Gnome, probably to save space, there are missing icons all over the place, and overall it's just a mess. Talk about no ambition whatsoever to have a nice looking workspace...
He usually has like 20 windows open on the same workspace, so I'm guessing he doesn't know about workspaces (unlikely) or thinks workspaces are bloat xD

I'm glad though that at least someone there uses Linux, whatever it looks like.

That is hilarious! Gnome 3 especially even forces you to use them. Maybe mention Mate to him. :)

Something crazy to do when you are really bored. If you survive it we will make you a statue at the BBQ. :)

^ nice, sometimes the case at work Mysql 32 bit can't address as much memory as a 64bit version. So we just build them a new machine, planned obsolescence ;)

^^ this is damned crazy but seems to work. I believe the other way round is a tad easier. It's the glibc that is the actual problem, everything else is a smooth sail. But in this case ... I really rather re-install :D

Conky is bloody confusing. I'm piping conky-cli into dzen2, and started playing with displaying now playing info from MOC. So, at first, I have something like this:

Code: Select all

${if_running mocp}${moc_title}$endif
Because the conky variables page says:
exec - Executes a shell command and displays the output in conky. warning: this takes a lot more resources than other variables. I'd recommend coding wanted behaviour in C and posting a patch.
I go check htop, and CPU usage is at freakin' 30%, constantly! (Not to mention, this displays "no title" half the time, even though music is playing).

Then I try this out:

Code: Select all

${if_running mocp}${exec mocp -Q %song}$endif
And behold, CPU usage is at 10-12%, pretty much the same as when not displaying any kind of song info through conky. What the hell, they got it backwards :D

I take my sudden re-inspired interest for n00b ki11ah as a very good sign. After an extended period of bling and bloat it feels good to be back to black. :)

Today I learned that you do not fuck with libc6 the hard way. Also, fuck you, Steam.
