If it is on freenode, I don't think it will work.
At least here, I can not even get on freenode at all.

freenode webchat is blocked, thats why you all get ban messages.

Edit - after a hundred or so trys regular freenode is working for me. I seem to remember the "connection to fast, throttled" message appeared the last time they were under ddos.
