[RESOLVED]xserver-xorg-core / common

Unread post by dkeg » Fri Feb 07, 2014 8:13 pm

Code: Select all

xserver-common (1.14.5-1 => 1.15.0-2)
xserver-xorg-core (1.14.5-1 => 1.15.0-2)
Looks to be a pretty big upgrade. I'll hold off for now. Let it simmer for a bit, see what google has to say.

^ they have been doing this off and on for at least a month. Usually waiting a day sorts it out. I think they are updating all the packages, but not all at once, and some of the updates trigger a big mess.

Thank you for the clarification Pids.

Stumbling across this I wanted to put it out there for others in case they see the same. I didn't know much with the details, if anything, and figured by posting up here, either you or someone else who is more knowledgeable than myself could add some clarity.

That is the time when you have to wait with the d-u, especially because it seems it wants to remove stuff!

Thanks Drew. Though, as Pidsley says, should be solved in some hours or the next days.

Debian says that Xorg 1.15 is "in transition" and that the transition is 0% complete (as of a couple of hours ago).

Well, this sounds like a quiet (as in upgrade) weekend.

the Chef recommends: suspend any upgrades and installations that are dependencies/reverse dependencies of xserver for the next days.

Thanks for the report, of course!

Just seen this and quickly came here to write about it. You got here first, dkeg. :)
I'll wait for my d-u, no problem.

https://release.debian.org/transitions/ ... r1.15.html

Most of us can "upg" now -- be careful if you are using nvidia and fglrx drivers, and do *not* proceed if these packages are removed and not replaced.

On a bbq system, it seems, the packages are set on hold for the time being. I am doing a forced upgrade now. /brb

The following packages will be REMOVED:
ruby1.8 rubygems xserver-xorg-video-all xserver-xorg-video-qxl

Nope. Sorry :D

/edit: though, yes -> -all includes -qxl which hasn't been pushed yet. So - yes. ruby18.8, WTF did I have this installed? :D

ruby is a dependency of apt-listbugs. Don't ask me why apt-listbugs is written in ruby, but it is.

Indeed! Completely forgot about it. What a waste of resources - a simple curl could do, too :)

Edit: I see it depends on ruby, and I had ruby1.8 because of gems (completely other story) -- purged :D
