LOL. I just got back to my Debian/BBQ partition yesterday (after a long while) and discovered this as well. Initially searched all the related forums, including this one and found nothing related. So I asked the aptosidux forum (because slh never sleeps) and got a reply;

I'll DU, remove alsa-base and reboot. Will post an update in a bit.

I remember dup'ing, and think I remember seeing alsa something. seems I don't have alsa-base now, but did I? Anyway, no ill effects yet. alsamixer, cmus, mpv, all work fine.

Removed alsa-base with no issues. Everything I have that depends on alsa seems to work fine.

Then slh was right. Thank you Slob.
I already thought it would be something like this but was not sure.
My workaround was to hold alsa-base and then it automatically marked kmod on hold, too.
