[fixed] libldb1 wants to remove a lot of packages

Unread post by ivanovnegro » Sun Jun 08, 2014 12:08 pm

I saw that from our friends at Siduction, so I let them speak for me:

http://forum.siduction.org/index.php?topic=4641.0

Put libldb1 on hold then the du won't remove essential software packages, I can confirm it.

Thanks David, here on 32 bit it shows after upg:
The following packages have been kept back:
darktable emacs24 emacs24-bin-common filezilla filezilla-common
google-chrome-unstable libcups2 libcupsimage2 libcurl3-gnutls
libgnutls-openssl27 libgtk-3-0 libldb1 linux-image-siduction-686-pae wget
So, parts of the <breaks> seem to work :)

ah, well oddly enough, I have just posted a similar thread, but with libwxgtk3.0-0 and filezilla.

http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1310

I did not get the held back for filezilla and filezilla-common, else I probably would not have seen the incoming of libwxgtk3.0-0. Either way, fixed for me.

Work hard; Complain less

Filezilla is not installed here. I guess we should merge? Forgot to say that I am on 32 bit as 64 bit could already be fixed as per Siduction thread.

Code: Select all

bbq@grill:~$ apt-cache rdepends libldb1
libldb1
Reverse Depends:
  sssd-tools
  sssd-proxy
  sssd-common
  sssd-ad-common
  python-sss
  samba-testsuite
  samba-libs
  samba-libs
  samba-dsdb-modules
  samba-dsdb-modules
  samba
  samba
  python-samba
  openchangeserver
  openchangeproxy
  openchangeclient
  libmapistore0
  libmapiproxy0
  libmapiadmin0
  libmapi0
  python-ldb
  libldb1-dbg
  libldb-dev
  ldb-tools
Guess the libldb1 borkage has to do with parts of samba rather than filezilla-common (if you check the [reverse] depends of filezilla, there's not much in relation)

Code: Select all

bbq@grill:~$ depends libwxbase3.0-0
libwxbase3.0-0
  Depends: libc6
  Depends: libexpat1
  Depends: libgcc1
  Depends: libstdc++6
  Depends: zlib1g
  PreDepends: multiarch-support
So, I wouldn't merge them (IMO) yet

^ Nope, you are right. Already moved it somewhere else and it is correct, it is a samba issue. I guess most of us do not use it but on my old sid system I have quite some obscure samba libs and I could not remove them without removing something I need.

Yeah, I got you, David. I think this happens when you once add the full gvfs set (namely the gvfs-backends) for network shares.

Just got the info in IRC that this shit also breaks mplayer(2), so be careful and skip the upg for now.
