libdvdnav4 breaks mplayer/mplayer2 [reopened with fix]

The newest libdvdnav4 5.0.0 breaks mplayer2, there seems to be a wrong symlink, whatever. I am too lazy to fix it myself and got already the shitty version. Just revert back with the version from Testing (libdvdnav4_4.2.1-3). Or put the older version on hold for now if you did not upgrade your machine yet.

See the fix below.

sagga-fraggragin-sid-dastardlyy. 8(
Here's a top level sysadmin approved fix 8) :

Code: Select all

wux@chauvin:~$ sudo cp -av /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libdvdnav.so.4 /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libdvdnavmini.so.4
‘/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libdvdnav.so.4’ -> ‘/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libdvdnavmini.so.4’
plays movies, probably breaks something later on, use at your own risk blah blah...

Good catch because it seems nobody in Debian cares. No, wait, they removed mplayer even from the repos the retards. Using the dead mplayer2 instead. It works but the bugs are not getting fixed! All this for the fucking libav blahblahblah fork of ffmpeg.

I switched back to mplayer and now I really appreciate the up-to-date Debian Multimedia packages from Marillat.
