Best to wait?

Unread post by Sector11 » Fri Aug 23, 2013 7:17 pm

OK, I'm the newbie noob here ... I've waited a couple of days ... and today I see the end .. about iceweasel.

Is that a recommended wait as well?

EDIT: is there a way to determine what xserver-xorg-xxxxx stuff I need/don't need?
{I can see it now: DebianJoe: delete em all :D } ... but you know what I mean.
just point me in the right direction ...

I'm not sure about the other stuff, but I just went ahead and upg iceweasel. It did not seem like it had any affect on my system. Honestly I don't care much if that breaks, I can use another browser which I usually do anyway. but so far its fine.

Or you can put it on hold for now, sure it will be fixed soon.

Thanks ...
The other stuff was yesterday and the day before, just the iceweasel one now. I have midori as a backup.
I'll let it run, normally I see stuff and wait but after two days with the xorg stuff I just wanted to check.

It is the right place.
You still run the deb-multimedia archive? wow.
Though, aptitude can be sometimes funny, especially with these "Hey I've got an idea, what if we simply remove 57 packages just because one package needs a downgrade" ;) By all means, if X packages are affected of *Removal*, come here and ask or delay the dist-upgrade.
As for Iceweasel - that's just an app ;) Of course upgrade it and see if it breaks. Downgrade is always possible.
And a little hint: If you want to save your ass a few times a year, add siduction base and fixes to the sources.list
..gnutella..

What's wrong with deb-multimedia?

You suggest "apt" over "aptitude"? I used "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade" up until a short time ago.
Love aptitude show and search functions.

Iceweasel came in fine. :D

I noticed siduction in linuxbbq-darkside64. Are you saying adding a siduction kernel? smxi will do that I think as well as my nvidia drivers ... but the "and fixes" - OK, I'll cruise over to the siduction site and read. If I have Q's I'll be back.
