apt-cache policy perl
perl:
Installed: 5.14.2-21

it wants to remove 135 packages, including removing kernel...haha, I better just hold on and wait.

Bumping this because it's severe. Don't dist-upgrade for a few days, it will pork your beef!

To get info on the perl transition, visit http://release.debian.org/transitions/ -> http://release.debian.org/transitions/h ... l5.18.html

Wait until our architectures are fully transitioned (other architectures might lag behind, so that the counter won't rise above 90% or so)

Same here. Just dist-upgraded on my 32bit VM install and everything went swimmingly. If I recall correctly, libperl5.14 is the only package removed, but there's a later version (5.18, I think) in it's place. So far, no issues with perl related software that I've noticed. Apt's still holding a xorg-core package. I assume it's waiting for a dependency to catch up in version number.

Haven't dist-upgraded on amd64 yet, but looking at the siduction forums, it seems to be all good on that architecture as well.

Just upgraded my 32-bit siduction LXDE, all seems well so far. Yup, libperl5.14 removed and replaced with libperl5.18 here, and xorg held.

Looks OK now, except for mips and mipsel architectures. If you use Subversion (svn) hold back for a day or two, else we can regard the transition of the base perl as completed.

Well,
from bug report, the file is not even installed
# apt-cache policy libscalar-list-utils-perl
libscalar-list-utils-perl:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 1:1.27-1+b1

so i went ahead to d-u.
reboot, all seems ok

xserver-xorg-core is held back by debian maintainer, i guess

Code: Select all

  xserver-xorg-core
