Thanks David. Seems this only affects aptitude and not apt-get; at least apt-* doesn't do anything bad here.

Seems so but better save than sorry and for our aptitude users (really, who uses this shit?). :D

I updated today and had no problems so far. I don't use aptitude though.

If aptitude wasn't upgraded recently, then I suspect libxapian22 and not libapt-pkg4.12 to be the problem.
