[Now Closed] urxvt spawns extra process - Bug #733323

with version 19.1-1 through debian repos with each urxvt session, a second process will be spawned. Seems to happen with both rxvt-unicode and rxvt-unicode-256color.

xaos opened a bug report with debian, but literally within hours it was closed. Bug #733323. You can read all about it here. Apparently a bug to us users is a solution to them and having two process to every one instance is now to be considered normal.

Anyway, as mentioned by Pidsley, and I can concur also worked for me, you can build up rxvt-unicode from source using the tarball.

So with that, and the bug report response, we see this is not a rxvt-unicode issue, but a debian patch issue, ehrm, or feature if you listen to them (debian)

Thank you guys for the efforts. The BBQ will move back to xterm as preferred default terminal emulator in future releases.
