VARIOUS: Cream (i686) Release News
LinuxBBQ is proud to announce the immediate availability of "Cream", an installable live session that features no less than 76 Window Managers, untouched and vanilla from the developers' sources.
"Cream" is an easy and quick way to test Window Managers, even those "obscure" ones that have never been featured in other Linux distributions before. We made sure to create a uniform look and feel, while staying on the light side in resource usage. "Cream" runs smoothly on any IBM-compatible PC with at least 256MB of RAM. The live ISO weighs in at 501MB, so it can be put on a small USB stick or on CD. As an extra, there are framebuffer, tmux and TTY sessions included, as well as the "Enlightenment" desktop environment.
The username and password for the live session is "bbq".
Available at sourceforge: http://sourceforge.net/projects/linuxbb ... o/download
Screenshots of the different WMs in action can be found here: http://linuxbbq.org/bbs/viewforum.php?f=27
Release announcement: http://linuxbbq.org/cream.html
Note:
A "Cream Lite" with i486 kernel and smaller ISO size optimized for netbooks will follow in the second week of June.
A very big Thank You to Grillmeister pidsley who has put this thing together! It's been a pleasure to work with the foundation you laid, Cream is a very thorough and solid remix!

It's funny how we used to be able to do real stuff with rudimentary computers, but now we can't. -- ratcheer

^ this! Thanks to gekko for the wall and for testing, dkeg for the colors, ivan for keeping watch on upgrade bugs, roald for knitting, bones for installing slackware, rusty for finding random wms -- it is a community effort.

Re: VARIOUS: Cream (i686) Release News
Hahaha, yeah, that clearly says "bacon." Ladislav must be doing his homework. ;)
Re: VARIOUS: Cream (i686) Release News
Just laughing to myself here: 76 window managers AND I just realized Enlightenment is on there, too, all STILL able to fit on a CD. Just brilliant.

Re: VARIOUS: Cream (i686) Release News
Where do i report a bug ? Just a small thing: Setting the keyboard doesn't affect Ceni- it still uses english layout. Loving this one ! I don't think the memory footprint on Enlightenment does get any smaller.
