"After Life", very amusing and food for thought about life and death. "Messiah", interesting thriller drama, about the return of guess who? Or not? ;)
Re: TV series
Finally got Mildred Piece on Blu-ray. You know I'm not much of a series fan, but Todd Haynes is my man.

Re: TV series
I have that on my list.
Re: TV series
^ For my eyes (and money), that miniseries is some of his best work. He definitely understood how to grow out of the Douglas Sirk influence so visible in his early efforts. Not that there is something wrong with Douglas Sirk, but it's good to know Haynes has his own voice.
Re: TV series
Is it just me or the US version of The Office is not as good as the original one?

Re: TV series
Do you really wonder? :) I have not even seen the original but most of the times the US remakes suck. Unfortunately The Office is not available for me, not even the US version.

Re: TV series
so i got conned/coerced into an amazon prime subscription and I thought I'd watch Picard. Which I thought was really good, enough of the new generation looking old, but not all of them, some nice performances, of course dominated by Sir Pat.
Once that ended we watched 'Upload' which was pretty good. Actually made me laugh on occasions, Americans don't really do understated awkwardness very well (as in Gekko's Office observations) but this one had a couple of good moments.
We then watched 'The crossing' which was mediocre but held our attention for the single season it got allocated.
we looked at some other new offerings and wasn't too impressed, or way too violent.
I then started the expanse which has a high rating on IMDB, the first couple of episodes kinda dragged, but it's piling on the intrigue now and got intersting. Wife sneaked off and did something else on the pivotal episode. not looking forward to explaining it all.

^ After the first three episodes of The Expanse I quit.
Re: TV series
The Expanse books are much better than the TV series (in my opinion).

Re: TV series
wife has effectively vetoed The Expanse, by wandering off again, doing something else. I've no doubt the books would be better.
We are onto Mr Robot which she really likes. I only caught the first season when it came out. So all good.

Re: TV series
Well, I would recommend it, the first 5 episodes at least. maybe the whole first series. Going to see what S2 is like later.
Re: TV series
If you want to relax in front of your screen I recommend "Midnight Diner : Tokyo Stories". Season 2 is out now on ´flix.

Re: TV series
^ Fantastic.
Re: TV series
On Netlix now! Three seasons with "Midnight Diner". Made before it became "Tokyo Stories", from 2009, 11 and 14 respectively. A great surprise when I found out about it. Quite nerdy, but I just love it. Link below to imdb page.
